Big summer catch up

Well we have been too busy enjoying ourselves for me to stop and put up some posts. SO this is catch up time. Forgive me but it's a lot easier to say it in pictures then to try and give a detailed post, so here they are.

We went to visit our friend who's dog had 6 puppies.
We went for walks in the rain.
Check out those wellies
We went for a day to the beach
Check out Ziah's face. Classic Ziah.
Grandad about to brave the sea.

Faith's first attempt at body boarding. Ayesha showing her how its done.
Our trip to Birmingham
Our trip to Himley Hall

It's been a great summer but coming to an end way to quickly. Well one more week left. Let's see what surprises it will bring.

6 year old wisdom

This afternoon while cooking dinner, in the space of less then 2 minutes I had
  1. Broken one of my nails halfway down the nail bed, resulting in blood everywhere.
  2. not one but 2 children wee on the floor.
  3. dropped and broke a plate and
  4. then had a very strange leak coming from my kitchen ceiling.
At this point Faith, with the wisdom only a 6 year old has, turned round to me and said
"Mum, I think you need a day off"

The Hair Cut

Phoebe has been asking me for weeks to have her hair cut. So today I managed to get a last minute appointment and off we went for her first trip to the hairdressers. Before now both girls have had their hair trimmed by Auntie Becky at her house so this was their first time in the CHAIR. (I'm only saying it like that because I have a phobia of hairdressers who have no idea what to do with curly hair)
Before the hair cut

I had no idea how long Phoebe's hair was till she started cutting it and I saw it falling on the floor and then I actually had to look away or I was going to cry. I really wasn't sure about her having it cut in to a bob but it was what she wanted so it's what she got.
Faith on the other hand threatened me that if she cut too much of she was going to be VERY upset and she would not be speaking to me. The lady straightened her hair before cutting it so she came out looking like her hair had grown, not been cut. And of course being a girl she wasn't happy with this either.

(Not the best picture of Faith's hair but the only one she would let me take)

But at the end of the day they both look beautiful.

Week 2 part 3 the Weekend

So Saturday morning we got up and headed down to Mama and Papa's for the weekend. We set off later then planed and then seem to hit every possible bit of traffic. So much so that we skipped the whole of the M25 and went through the centre of London. We even got to drive past Craven Cottage home to my football team Fulham.
Mum, Faith and I went shopping to get some stuff for Charlotte's birthday and ended up getting Mum a choice of 2 dresses for Kathy's wedding at the end of the month. Which if you know my mum and the fact that she LIVES in jeans, finding her the choice of 2 dresses that she actually likes is a miracle.

So on Sunday we visited Epsom ward and got to catch up with some great friends. Then it was off to Kathy and John's for Charlotte's birthday B-B-Q, I still can't believe that Charlotte is 12, it really does make me feel very old. It was the chance to meet the future in-laws before the wedding at the end of the month. Everyone seemed to have a lovely day and there were no clash of personalities. We all seemed to get on very well and I can't wait for the wedding.

The journey back was a lot quicker and we had 3 sleeping children in the back of the car 15 minutes into the journey. It doesn't get much better then that.
(Spencer and David messing around with Charlotte's glasses)

Week 2 part 2

Firstly I have to put a little add on from week 2 part 1. On the Tuesday we went to see Toy Story 3 in 3D. I really wasn't sure if this would be a good idea as we were taking Elijah and he was not the biggest fan of the cinema. But we were hoping as there were enough of us there to take up 2 rows and along with the glasses he might be distracted to stay in a bit longer then normal. Well although he refused to wear the glasses, so he must have come out with a terrible headache from watching a fuzzy looking screen for 2 hours, he stayed in, for the WHOLE film.

Anyway on to the second part of the week. Thursday Spencer was staying at a hotel in Northampton as he had a 4am start so he missed out on our evening out. As Great Grandad, Lynn, Sandra and Hayley were over for the day a dinner out was called for so off we went to the Spread Eagle for a lovely carvery. It was a funny night as soon as Elijah had eaten his dinner and woken up properly, he stopped growling at people and the kids were all on their best behaviour.
Friday was our chill out day before heading off down to Mama and Papa's for the weekend.

Week 2 part 1

Well we started this week off for Mummy and Daddy. Monday night we went out to dinner with our dear friends John and Mandy. Their boys were off at EFY for the week and Grandad came and look after our little ones so we took the opportunity to have an adults only night. It was a great night with lovely food and lots of laughs (especially at some of the questions in the quiz) and we will definitely being doing it again in the future.

Yesterday was visitors day.

We started off with Sarah, Ellie, Nathan, Rissa and JJ coing over for the day. The kids had a great time and the older 3 really enjoyed doing scooter relays up and down the road.

As they were leaving Julie, Ayesha, Ziah and baby Quinn (who they were looking after for the day) popped in. Again everyone had a great time till Elijah was bitten on the chin by Quinn. He is fine and maybe now he will realise why we used to scream when he was going through his biting phase.
The evening was finished by a visit from Andrew. A day later then planned but we won't go into that story now.
With such a busy day it was no surprise to me that the kids finally woke up about 9:30 this morning.

Week 1 of the holidays

We woke up Monday morning the first official day of the holidays and Spence said he was working in Selfridges in Birmingham. So as that is our nearest Krispy Kreme shop/resturant off we went for a holiday treat. Spence and I have loved Krispy Kreme doughnuts ever since we were introduced to them in Arizona 2003. They don't have very many places that sell them over here so we always jump at the chance when we are anywhere near a shop.
(Not quite sure what Phoebe is doing in this picture)
We also decided to get the bikes out and go for a family bike ride over the park. I love the idea of bike rides, especially as a family, but I don't do bikes. I have a real phobia of falling off so I just stay at the back and help Phebe's and Elijah on theirs. But they all had a great time riding on the back of Daddy's bike and going super fast.
