My Mum

I have been trying to build up to writing this blog for a few weeks now. But as Sarah and I have just discussed, Mum loved reading our blogs and I would hate to stop doing it because I didn't know how to word a tribute to my wonderful mother.
As Sarah has put in her blog I should have the most eloquent and beautiful words to describe my Mum but words fail me. So, for the time being, I am just going to put the words that I said at her funeral.

Mum was always full of life and energy.
I remember Sarah and I being so embarrassed once when a group of teenagers were trying to climb these vertical poles on an assault course and none of them could do it. Then when they had given up and moved on to the next obstacle, we turned round to see Mum at the top of the poles.
When she was in her 40's she was beating girls in their 20's at the stake sports day with her funny little run.
She lived life to the full and even after her heart attack she worked it out with her 'go slow days' that she was still able to do everything she wanted to do.
She had the worst sense of direction, a trait she seems to have past on to Kathy and Sarah. Whenever we went to the temple, she used to drive us mad. We've been going there for 30 years and she always took the wrong road. But as she put it 'I'll just follow the planes' and thanks to her heavy right foot (a trait she has passed on to Kathy and David) she would usually get there before us.
And she was far from being the best house keeper in the world. Sadly she only seems to have passed that one on to me.
But she was in no doubt the best mum I could have ever asked for.
To quote the song that Spence and I had dedicated to our parents on our wedding day
"I'm everything I am because she loved me."
She was my hero and I know she'll be watching over us until we're all together again.

I never dreamed it was possible to miss someone so much in such a short space of time.
I love you Mummy xxx
